Advanced standing and university credit may be awarded to students who complete college-level work in high school. UB awards credit based on AP exam scores, IB exam scores for certificates and diplomas, GCE exam scores and CLEP exam scores.
ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ elective credit is awarded to students with official score reports of 3 or higher on any Advanced Placement (AP) exam. In some cases, credit will go toward major or UB Curriculum requirements. You should designate UB (SUNY Center Buffalo/School Code 2925) at the time you take the exam or when you later request that AP scores be sent to UB.
Students who have completed an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma with a score of 30 will be awarded 30 credits (maximum) toward their degree and, in some cases, toward major or UB Curriculum requirements. Students with a score of 29 or less—or those who did not complete a diploma—are guaranteed credit for higher-level exams with scores of 5 or higher. This credit will apply toward their degree and, in some cases, toward major or general education requirements. You can work with your advisor, once assigned, to get more information on IB credit.
General Certificate of Education (GCE) exams with a grade of E or better at the Advanced level or Advanced Subsidiary level will guarantee students elective credit for use toward their UB degree and, in some cases, toward major or UB Curriculum requirements.
Students who earn the minimum required score on a College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exam, as determined by UB and listed on the CLEP exam chart, will be awarded elective or articulated credit toward their degree based on approved articulation.
TAURUS (Transfer Articulation and ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Requirements at UB System) is the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½’s (UB) articulation website that outlines the articulation process and includes the Course Equivalency Guide (CEG). The CEG displays course articulation approved by UB faculty. This will help you determine how your coursework will transfer to UB.
