Choosing a college is a big decision, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. At UB, we’re here to help you navigate the process and plan your next steps with confidence. Use the timeline below as a guide to stay on track as you prepare for college, and reach out anytime. Our team is ready to support you at every stage.

College Admissions Timeline

Sophomore Year

  • Fall: Explore and begin discussing colleges that offer majors in your areas of interest.
  • Spring: Explore the visit options of colleges you are interested in. Many virtual opportunities are available.

Junior year

  • Throughout the year: Research colleges and visit options. Look into scholarship opportunities. A good place to start is .
  • Spring: Participate in virtual and in-person visit opportunities, information sessions and one-on-one options to ask your questions for the colleges you’re interested in.
  • Late Spring: Carefully select courses for senior year, making sure that you meet all requirements for graduation and cover any prerequisites for your potential major (e.g., for engineering or business management).

Senior year

  • Fall: Complete your applications. Different colleges may have different deadlines and procedures, so be sure to stay on top of them.
  • December: Make sure all applications are complete and submitted. Complete and submit the .
  • Spring: After receiving your acceptance notifications, make your choice! UB's enrollment/tuition deadline for Fall 2026 is May 1, 2026.

  Recommended ACT test date for fall admission
September/October
  Recommended SAT test date for fall admission October/November
  Office of Admissions begins to acknowledge receipt of fall applications Mid-October
  Early Action/Priority Scholarship Consideration November 1
  Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens October
  Regular Decision application completion deadline February 1
Students can continue to submit an application for consideration until capacity is reached.
