Yotam Ophir Receives SUNY Chancellor's Horizon Award

Yotam Ophir, PhD, Associate Professor of Communication at the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ among the inaugural class to be awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Horizon Award for Faculty Research and Scholarship. The honr awards early-career faculty research and scholarly achievements across SUNY's colleges and universities.

The awards were announced on April 29, 2025 by State ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr.

"SUNY is known for its exceptional research and scholarship, and the faculty members who earned this recognition are at the forefront of their fields," Chancellor King said. "Our inaugural Horizon awardees ahve already made a profound impact in their fields of studey early in their careers, and by highlighting them we hope to inspire even more achievements in the years to come."

SUNY Board Trustee Keither Landa and Trustee Candice Vacin said, "SUNY provides an excellent education, and our esteemed faculty are at the forefront of innovation, resarech and scholarship. The chancellor's Horizon Award for Faculty Resaerch and Scholarshipnhonors early career tenured and tenure track faculty whose scholarly or creative activities ahve already achieved significant recognition and, crucially, hold strong promise for field-devining impact in the future.

There were 10 awardees in the inaugural class. Ophir was the sole awardee from the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½.
