ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Police Officers have full state authority to enforce laws and university regulations in the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ community, and they are highly trained professionals. The ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Police Department is committed to providing excellent and courteous services to meet the specific needs of the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ community. We follow the philosophy of Community Policing.
The mission of the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Police Department is to provide a safe, friendly and welcoming environment for ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ students, visitors, faculty and staff to live, learn, work and play.
ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Police Officers are required to have completed a minimum of 60 college credits in order to meet the minimum requirements established by NYS Civil Service. Many have earned Bachelor and Master degrees. After attending the 21-week basic police academy training, they also receive specialized training on numerous topics. After graduating from the basic police academy, Officers complete a 9-week Field Training (FTO) program. Our FTO program is twice as long as the minimum required by New York State.
