The ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ will recognize 12 distinguished alumni at the UB Alumni Association Achievement Awards ceremony to be held at Oct. 12 in the UB Center for the Arts.

The annual Felix Smith Scholarship for part-time students will continue in perpetuity.

The awards will benefit Western New York, where there is a lack of mental health professionals and treatment resources.

The ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ today launches a fundraising campaign that is the largest in university history and the largest in the history of the State ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ of New York system.

Rodney M. Grabowski, a highly accomplished fundraising executive with more than 25 years of experience, has been named UB vice president for philanthropy and alumni engagement.

The late Peter Ayers Nickerson, a beloved UB faculty member who spent nearly 50 years teaching in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, has given $4.5 million to the school.

Colucci has had a long and successful career in banking, corporate, finance and real estate law.

Western New York will be seeing blue this weekend as the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ celebrates Homecoming and Family Weekend.

The gift will help UB advance its goal of becoming one of the nation’s premier public research universities.

James Smist was seven years old when his father, Felix Smist, graduated in mechanical engineering from the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
