Researchers from the UB join a new research center with the goal of creating more durable and longer-lasting transportation infrastructure through innovation in materials, construction and structural health monitoring methods. 

The largest transportation conference in the world gave faculty and students a chance to share the capabilities of ISTL and IBE.

WGRZ-TV spoke with Anthony Tessari, associate professor in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, about plans to put a cover over a portion of the Kensington Expressway in Buffalo.

Ching-Ching Yu (PhD ’21), a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, will participate in Carnegie Mellon ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½’s 2022 Rising Stars – Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Workshop. 

UB’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)’s seismic design team’s proposal earned fourth place, and the team finished inside the top 20 at the 2022 Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) undergraduate seismic design competition. 

A team made up of recent ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ engineering alumnus and current student, advised by assistant professor in civil, structural and environmental engineering, Xiao Liang, won the 2021 International Project Competition for Structural Health Monitoring.

UB’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student club steel bridge and concrete canoe design teams finished near the top in national competitions held during the last few weeks. 

The archaeological site at Ancient Nemea in Greece receives the European Union’s  (EU) European Heritage Label this month. Nicos Makris civil engineering alumnus was instrumental in reconstruction at the site.
