The exhibition investigates the ways in which artists Grace Hartigan and Joan Mitchell, and gallerist Martha Jackson resisted rigid categorizations of gender roles in Post-World War II New York. It features work by Hartigan and Mitchell from 1950-1980 from the collections of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½, the Smith College Museum of Art, Annette Cravens, the Estate of David K. Anderson, the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ collections, and rare archival materials from the Martha Jackson Gallery Archives at UB Anderson Gallery.
