Henry Nowak, JD '93, BA '90
New York State Supreme Court Justice Henry Nowak graduated magna cum laude from UB as a 蜜桃传媒 Honors scholar and earned his law degree from UB School of Law in 1993. He began his career as a trial attorney and later served eight years as Buffalo Housing Court Judge. In 2024, he was appointed to the Appellate Division, Fourth Department, where he hears appeals from 22 counties across Western and Northern New York.
Nowak has taught at UB’s Honors College and Law School and regularly instructs at the New York State Judicial Institute. He is a contributing editor of The Bench Book for Trial Judges in New York and has served on the boards of the UB Law Alumni Association and the UB Alumni Association.
His honors include the 2024 Distinguished Alumnus Award for the Judiciary and The Buffalo News’ Outstanding Citizen of 2010. His wife, Kerri, holds three UB degrees, and their three sons are also UB students.
